side effect to Zoladex

Hi, I’m new here! The doctors found endo after a 10 year long search for answers. I had a huge amount removed 9 months ago but still have pain in the bottom left abdomen. I am getting Zoladex injections and I’m half way through. Since my first injection 4 weeks ago I have experienced very low moods. I’ve never been affected this way and I am scared and feel like I’m all over the place. Unmotivated, can’t concentrate, thinking the worst about everything. I have made a doctors appointment to check my hormone levels but has anyone else felt the same side effect. Google says it’s a common one and the sheet on side effects but my gynaecologist says it’s rare. Any insight would be appreciated I don’t know anyone with endometriosis. Thanks

  1. I'm so sorry you're dealing with such depressive moods. That must be so scary! It's crazy how even the slightest change in hormone levels can throw your whole body off. I don't have personal experience with Zoladex, but I know that this can be a common side affect of Gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists (Gn-RH agonists). Have you seen to your doctor yet to have your hormone levels checked? I hope you're doing better at this point!

    1. Hi, thanks for reaching out. It’s been the worst 4 weeks in my life. The last week has been better I’ve had 4 great days and 2 low days. I’ve never struggled with mental health before so it’s been a shock. I’ve seen my doctor 3 times in the last 4 weeks and she has put me on antidepressants to control my hormones while I get the drug out my system. Even though it’s 4 weeks tomorrow the side effects can last a lot longer and it varies. I’ve also been seeing a psychologist. Although I’ll never take Zoladex again it did work so it will be life changing for the right person. I am catching up with my specialist next week to talk next steps for the endometriosis but for now I’ll probably just leave it alone. Thanks again for reaching out x
