When Did You Realize Your Period Pain Wasn’t Actually Normal?

For a long time I thought my symptoms were just “normal period problems,” especially since I’m active and generally healthy. It took a diagnosis of early-stage endometriosis to realize that what I was experiencing wasn’t something I should have ignored.

Since then, I’ve been paying closer attention to lifestyle changes and how they affect my symptoms, like reducing smoking and alcohol and focusing more on recovery and inflammation.

Has anyone else noticed certain lifestyle changes that actually made a difference for their endometriosis symptoms?

  1. I had a very similiar exp tbh. For years I kept telling myself its just bad periods and maybe im just weak with pain or something. Everything else in life looked normal so I didnt question it much. After the diagnosis I started noticing little things like sleep, food, stress actually change my symptoms a bit. Still figuring it out tho because with endo nothing seems to follow a proper rule 😅

  2. I realized that my period pain was not normal when the pain became severe and unpredictable and started interfering with my daily life. First, it was no longer just a few uncomfortable days, it remained even after the periods, affected other parts as well, and disturbed normal activities. The turning point was when the pain got in the way of something important and proved that this wasn’t something one should learn to live with or consider normal.
