My uterus is on fire. You?

I've been secreting a brown discharge for about a week, with occasional fresh blood, which has become normal during Week 2 (ovulation), but now someone's started a small fire at the base of my uterus. It's not, like, blazing, just curiously warm. It doesn't even hurt really. I'm just not sure if I've ever felt anything like this before.

And now I'm wondering if it's still safe to go for a swim, or if I'll cramp up and die.

These are the questions we women ask ourselves sometimes 🤷🏾‍♀️ and this is why I don't know how to work out anymore.

I'm guessing it might be another ruptured chocolate cyst, the first of which occurred last year and was so excruciating that I thought I might actually die, but now they happen so often, it's whatever.

What do you ladies think?

  1. That small fire feeling makes sense, like its not full pain but you know something is up. Brown discharge can just be old blood but with your cyst history I get why youre wary. If its not getting sharper a gentle swim might be ok, but if you feel sudden pain or dizziness please dont ignore it. Did your last rupture creep up like this or hit hard straight away?

    1. thank you! This was a while ago (still alive!), and a lot has happened since. I don't remember what I ended up doing at the time - probably just stayed home and rested. Yeah, the brown discharge is definitely old blood. It has a habit of going the wrong way during menstruation and then coming back out during ovulation. The ruptures were sudden at first, but over time, it's hard to tell if my body has become so accustomed to them that they don't even hurt anymore. That odd burning sensation hasn't happened since, I don't think. Other things are happening though that have never happened before, like my kidneys quivering. Oh joy.

  2. That “is this normal or is something weird happening in there” spiral is so relatable honestly 😅 Before my endo diagnosis I used to question every random pelvic sensation because all my scans kept saying everything was normal and it really plays with your head after a while. Is that warm feeling still there now or has it settled a bit?

    1. ohmygoodness, thank you so much! It's definitely playing with my head. Same, everything is always normal - except my breath tests, which helped confirm my asthma diagnosis (perimenstrual - leading me to believe the endo is on my diaphragm!). And, of course, everything gets "better" or at least bearable the less stress I'm under, so then I'm prone to believing the doctors and thinking, maybe it is just all in my head? I don't know, it's hard. Especially with all the other co-morbidities. Is it endo; is it fibroneuropathy; am I just losing my mind; or all of the above? The warm sensation is gone for now, as other curious things take its place...

  3. Ok this might sound weird but I’ve actually had that strange warm feeling in my pelvis before too. Not really pain… just this odd heat or pressure kind of feeling. Mine has happened a few times around ovulation or when something cyst related was going on and it always made me second guess doing anything physical like swimming or working out. Our bodies really do come up with the strangest sensations sometimes 😅

    1. not weird at all! I'm grateful to hear that others have experienced it, sad that it's happened to you, relieved I'm not alone, and hopeful we can figure it out, or at least have each other to lean on in the meantime!
