Endo diagnosis

Hi, I’m new here and have so many questions. In September this year I was diagnosed with bowel cancer, in October I had surgery to remember this. When the surgeon opened me up he noticed that my pelvis was full of blood, I had several chocolate cysts on each ovary, the top of my vagina had been pulled up into my Douglas pouch obliterating my anterior wall, this was all because of endometriosis. The surgeon diagnosed me with stage 4 endometriosis and I have absolutely no idea what the hell is going on.
He is shocked that I could still function and hold a normal life down when the endometriosis was that severe.
Since surgery which was to remove my rectum due to the cancer and also my ovaries and tubes as well as my appendix I am getting terrible abdominal pain which I’ve never had before and it’s 4 weeks since surgery.
I guess my question is, although I didn’t struggle before I’m wondering now he’s been in and disturbed it, is it possible for me to now suffer the pain of endometriosis?

  1. , Your poor body has been through so much! I'm sorry that you're in so much pain. I suppose it is possible that the surgery may have triggered the onset of endometriosis pain. It's hard to pin point what exactly causes it. Have you been back to visit your doctor, and have you expressed your concerns? What have you been doing to manage your pain? I hope you're hanging in there! Sending warm hugs, Kat (Team Member)

  2. Thank you for your reply. I’ve seen my surgeon today and raised my concerns. He is going to speak with my gynaecologist and see what he can do to assist me.
He did say I have a frozen pelvis so I’m now worried sick as I’ve read up on this and it is saying it’s the worst case so surgery is the only answer.
I am obviously so so grateful that they removed the cancer, I’m just now screamed I have another long battle on my hands with the endometriosis.
So far I’m using a hot water bottle to ease the pain, it does help massively however there are times when it isn’t enough. I can take paracetamol but I can’t seem to tolerate ibuprofen since having surgery and the stoma. Xx
