From chronic diarrhea to chronic constipation

Hi endo warriors!! Ever since I was diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis I’ve had chronic bad diarrhea. I’ve learned to manage it with unflavored collagen over the years to help my bowels become more regular. Since January, like a flip of a switch I started getting terribly constipated. I thought it was my brand of collagen I switched to because it was a litter cheaper but turns out it was not the case at all… it’s been very frustrating from going to one extreme to another I don’t even know which one I’d rather have their both so terrible. Has anyone else experienced chronic diarrhea to chronic constipation overnight or over time!?
If so what helped and how did you treat it
Any kind of info helps

  1. Hi . Whenever your body experiences a sudden and dramatic change like that, it's important to see your doctor. Have you ever been referred to a gastroenterologist? Given your history, it might be a good idea to see one if you haven't already. Irritable bowel syndrome is common for people with endometriosis, and it might explain your symptoms, but it's good to rule out any other possible causes. You are definitely not alone. Here is an article about flip-flopping from diarrhea to constipation that might interest you: https://endometriosis.net/living/constipation-relief. Here are two articles with some possible treatments: https://endometriosis.net/living/prebiotics-probiotics and https://endometriosis.net/living/constipation. I hope the articles help and that you get some relief. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)
