Advice needed please
Hey guys. I’ve joined today in hope someone will read this and give me the advice I’m needing.
I first went to the doctors over a year ago with severe pelvic pain and bleeding during my periods. I was given an internal pelvic exam and was told I had a “mass” on the right side. I was fast tracked for a ultra sound 2 days later. The results of the ultra sound showed a very thick endometrium with extra fluid. I was told a biopsy was needed and I was referred to a specialist. The specialist examined me again internally and that was it. I was advised it was endometriosis. I was little baffled as it all seemed really quick. I expected more tests etc... he told me he wouldn’t put me under and look inside as it wasn’t worth the risks as he was adamant it was endometriosis? He’s written to my GP and requested to put me through early menopause by injections every month. It’s now been 4 months. I left it. My question is do I ask for a second opinion? Can I trust a diagnosis without it actually being seen? Do I go ahead with these injections?
It’s been 4 months and I’ve tried to just Carry in but the pain is unbearable and I’ve now started getting brown discharge mid cycle intact all the time! Please advice needed!
For me, any time I have a hesitation or am asking myself if I should get a second opinion is a sure sign I should get one! You really have nothing to lose by getting a second opinion (except the cost, of course) - and since endo diagnosis is through lap, I think you're asking very reasonable questions about the diagnosis and treatment. It sounds like you haven't been given a lot of answers - especially about treatment options, etc. Hope this helps!

The purpose of this study is to examine the essence of the experience of women living with endometriosis and a history of childhood abuse. Through the interview process, the participants’ lifeworld – their past, present, and future – will be accessed and meaning will be derived at individual and group levels. Utilizing the biopsychosocial model and transactional model of stress and coping, the results will attempt to reflect upon how women who have both of these experiences build understand through cognitive development about their world and existence.Eligibility -
Women who are 18-45 years old, have a diagnosis of endometriosis and a history of childhood abuse (sexual, physical, emotional, verbal, etc.), and whom complete this questionnaire (https://springfieldcollege.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cwpClLw9u7Pe537) may be eligible to participate in the study.Method -
After completion of the questionnaire, participants may be asked to attend a recorded in-person or virtual semi-structured interview that will last approximately 60 minutes. The highest standards of consent, confidentiality, and anonymity will be upheld. All individuals selected for the interview stage will be sent the results from the interpretive phenomenological analysis both for verification of accuracy and as acknowledgement of their time and effort.Contact -
