Advice please…..

I had an MRI as I have had various bowel and gynae issues and so I have been bounced around having lots of tests done, most of which were coming back normal. Ultrasound suspected perhaps endometriosis from thickened lining.

However I just received the MRI report of my pelvis that states ‘there is a multi cystic lesion seen at the pelvic brim, abutting small bowel loops and iliac vessels. It resembles an ovary but is not one. This could be arising exophytically from bowel, or the retroperiniteal structure. ?nodal. This focus was not visible in 2013. No high t1 signal is seen. No definite endometriosis deposits seen. Suggest urgent ct scan for lobulated, multicystic focus that is indeterminate on this scan.’

I then got a call an hour later and the scan is booked in 3 days time. I’m just trying to work out if it’s cancer they are looking for? I don’t feel they do CT scans lightly? Has anyone had anything like this?? I’m confused. I’m 38 with the 3 little children and my eldest two lost their dad in August so my anxiety is sky high

  1. Anyone later found it was endometriosis? My scan said no t1 signal so they said it was unlikely to be it but unsure

    1. Hey , I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I can completely understand your fear. I'm not sure what they would be looking for in the CT scan. Have you had your scan yet? Have you received any results? Please let us know what you find out. We'll be thinking of you! - Kat (Team Member)

  2. It may also be helpful for your doctor to consider checking CA-125. While it’s not diagnostic on its own, tumour markers and patterns seen with malignancy can differ from those typically associated with endometriosis, and they can add useful context.

A well-performed transvaginal ultrasound, particularly with IOTA scoring included in the report, can also provide valuable information to guide clinical decision-making.

I know this is an incredibly stressful time, but having these additional assessments can sometimes help bring more clarity and direction.
