Ultrasound- cyst

I had my ultrasound today after months of painful periods, they said I had 2 cysts one was fine and one was an endometrioma and I need to go back in a couple months and have another ultrasound. Does anyone have any experience with this? Will it affect
My fertility? Me and my partner would like to have a baby in the near future and I’m
Worried this is going to stop us.

  1. -hate that you have been in pain for so long but happy to hear you finally had your appointment. Many people suffering with endometriosis will find they have an endometrioma or "chocolate cyst" as they are called. Sometimes they do go away on their own, sometimes they do need to be removed via surgery. It's hard to say exactly what the endometrioma will affect. Because I am not a medical professional, I cannot give you a definite yes or no. However, I have known others with an endometrioma who were still able to get pregnant and those who did struggle. So, this is definitely a good conversation to have with your doctor <3 Please keep us posted on how everything is going. I hope you do get answers and relief. And know, we are all here for you, you are not alone in this. Hugs. -Kimberli (team member)

    1. As Kimberli mentioned, there can be many different experiences with endometriomas. I would definitely keep an eye on them and talk with your doctor about them. If you don't already have an endometriosis expert on your team, I'd recommend finding one. I had endometriomas that grew each month and became quite large, eventually causing me to lose both of my ovaries. I also had one rupture and it was the most pain I've ever felt. You may also want to do some research on best practices...sometimes endometriomas are a sign of deep infiltration endometriosis, which can be serious (I have this). This article is a good start: https://endometriosis.net/clinical/ovarian-endometriomas and if you aren't already in the Nancy's Nook Facebook group, it has a wealth of research articles you can access. Please keep us posted on how things go for you. ~Katrina, Endometriosis.net Advocate
