Tampons with stage 4.

okay, probably TMI, but does anybody else have issues wearing tampons? I've always had issues with them, they are never comfortable and I can feel them (yes, they're properly placed). I'm over pads because I live in the south and it's hot. IF you also had this issue, can you point me in the direction of the ones that have worked best for you and are comfortable? 😩

  1. Hi there! Thank you so much for being here and for your question. Firstly, just know, nothing is ever TMI here!! Secondly, ugh yes! Tampons are the worst. When I first got my period in 6th grade, I thought I would try tampons. I put one in and just about passed out and haven't worn one since. They are just too painful. I do understand the annoyance of those huge pads too though, especially in this heat. So, for me, I just I can't put anything in there. So I have to stick with pads BUT I also found period underwear, which is actually pretty helpful. I found them on Amazon. I don't know if I would use them with a super heavy period, but in general, I have found them to hold up and work well. Also, I know a lot of friends who found tampons hurtful, but find cups, to work fine and not hurt. I will attach some links for you to read.

    1. I agree with Kimberli...nothing is TMI here! I didn't have issues with tampons when I still had a period, but I did much better with the organic non-applicator style than the applicator style. I am super sensitive to chemicals and the organic ones were much more suited to me. I also tried the menstrual cup, but that was a definite no-go for me.

When I was bleeding, my gynecologist suggested that I could try CBD suppositories or even CBD tampons if you can access that where you are. Here's an article about someone who tried the CBD tampons: https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/cbd-tampons. I never ended up trying them, but I do know from friends that the suppositories work well.

I never tried them, but I think Kimberli's suggestion of period underwear is great, and lots of folks enjoy using them.

      1. Hi ! I also have trouble with tampons. I only wear period panties now, and I love them! I've been using the Thinx brand for more than 7 years now. They have a super heavy pair that holds 5 tampons! I have super heavy periods, especially day 1 and 2, and I never leak on these. I also know people with heavy periods who like the Knix brand. Period panties are pricier up front than a box of pads. But the ones I bought YEARS ago still work great. Here's one of my articles on period panties in case it's helpful! https://endometriosis.net/living/period-panties - Keri (endometriosis.net team member)
