Severe pelvic pain

I have always had painful periods and now having difficulty conceiving and was told I have endometriosis lately. For the past four cycles I have been severe pelvic/vaginal area pain mostly in the right side radiating down my legs and also pain in my left upper abdomen. I have needed to go to emegency department twice and needed iv hydromorohone. Surprisingly my periods are actually less painful now. I had a sonohysterogram four months ago; could that be causing these pains? My ultrasounds have shown a chocolate cyst on the left side and three fibroids. I am waiting for a pelvic MRI in February and my ovarian cancer marker is slightly high (apparently that can happen with endo and fibroids). I just cant stop thinking what if I have cancer? I am just so tired and depressed from being in pain all the time. Has anyone had a similar experience?

  1. Dearest , I think many of us in this community can relate to your experience. The pain you describe is very similar to mine. Mine also radiates from the right side, lower abdomen and towards my leg. Have you had a laparoscopy? Currently, that’s the only way to really determine if a patient has endometriosis since things like MRIs and other imaging tests can miss endometriosis adhesions occurring at a deeper level or hiding behind other organs.

Your fear of cancer is very rational. I share that too, but I cannot think about it too much since it triggers my anxiety. So I try to keep my mind at ease with regular check-ups a lot of mindfulness, and mostly, whatever keeps me busy. I know it’s not easy though, and if you need to share your fears, or have a chat, this community is here for you, do reach out. Hopefully you get all the answers you need soon. 1. Thank you so much for your response Jessie! I am sorry you are having similar experiences 🙁 I have not had a laproscopy as my ovarian reserve is very low and I am hoping to have at least one baby. I was told that laproscopy can wipe out my remaining ovarian reserve. Currently all the pain has localized in my left upper abdomen and its worse with movement. I really hate being in so much pain. How is everyone able to go to work and function with this pain? I am dreading my upcoming night shift.

    2. Hi there . Can definitely understand the worry of the ovaries. I have heard that before, but I do not know too much about whether if that is true or not. I do understand that worry about cancer. That is one of my worries daily as well. I hate that you are in so much pain 🙁 Have you ever considered speaking with an endometriosis specialist? I know the thought of surgery is scary right now and may not be something you want to do, but they still may be able to offer some advice and help for you!

Being in so much pain like that all the time is so frustrating and exhausting <3 I truly hope you are able to find answers and relief soon. Just know, you are such a warrior! And we are here for you any time you need to chat. Sending hugs and good thoughts your way. -Kimberli (Team Member)
