My 5th specialist

So I had my specialist appointment and it didn't go so well.

I had been there a few times but had to change specialist as mine was on maternity leave.

She was really nice but ended up telling me to go on anti dependence and go see a psychologist and that the surgery I requested was not necessary.

All the while she told me my endo has come back, my right ovaries is not moving in the ultrasound meaning its fixed to my uterus and on top of endo and polycyclic ovaries (1 ovarie has a cyst of 7.5cm) I also have Adenomyosis.

Im just beyond annoyed as I just wasn't expecting her to say that apart from what she prescribed there was nothing more she could do.

Im seeing a pain specialist to help me manage my pain again but pin management can only do so much if the endo has come back.

  1. well that is certainly so angering and frustrating. So very sorry you did not have a good appointment. I am glad you are seeing a pain specialist and hopefully you can find a lot of relief but I do agree, if the endometriosis has come back that badly and you are dealing with what she said she saw on the ultrasound, then it may be hard to find complete relief. I know it is exhausting to think about as I know it was probably exhausting just to find/get this appointment, but, would you think about trying to find another doctor or specialist for another opinion? I have been told too many times from doctor to just take meds for depression and see a therapist. It makes my blood boil.

Do you know how long your original specialist is on maternity leave for? Maybe, hopefully she will be back sooner rather than later and you can try and see her specifically. Either way, I truly hope you get the love and care you deserve and need. And the relief too. Thinking of you. Please reach out if you need to chat and do keep us posted on how you are doing. -Kimberli (team member)

    1. thank you for your kind words, I left that appointment feeling so defeated and tired but I am looking for another opinion from another specialist.

My original specialist has been away for about 3 months and the office said she won't be back till the end of the year, and I can't wait that long as my condition is getting much much worse.

I wish there was more info and knowledge in the medical realm so that thoes who are struggling with endo don't have to go through years of being misdiagnosed.

Ill be sure to reach out and update where I can

    2. here for you always. I totally understand not being able to wait until the end of the year until she returns. I wish there was more knowledge and info too. One of the biggest reasons why I will continue to raise my voice and share my story. My hope is we will get to that point someday, sooner rather than later, where endometriosis is actually taken more seriously than it is. Just know, we are all thinking of you and lifting you up best we can. You keep on fighting dear warrior. I know it's frustrating and exhausting but you deserve answers and relief <3 Hugs. -Kimberli (advocate)

  2. I am so sorry that you are dealing with this type of treatment. I understand how frustrating it can be when a specialist "cannot help" anymore.

Honestly, I would suggest looking for another specialist. You can call your insurance or log into your online access in order to acquire a list of specialists. I tend to research the specialist online before making an appointment. These days there are many websites that rate doctors. I agree that you should not wait until the end of the year to see your specialist again. That is a long time to wait, even with a pain specialist.

The frustration you feel is very valid. I hope you realize you are allowed to truly feel these feelings. Sometimes it helps to find a way to vent those feelings. If you ever have the time and energy, we have a story section where you can write your story out.
I am so glad that you have found the community here. Hopefully, you are able to make some connections and find some extra support here. Feel free to reach out at any time. If there is something I can do to help, let me know. Best wishes - Amanda (team member)
