Incomplete surgery-what to do now

Hi all,
So yesterday after months of waiting, I got a diagnostic laparoscopy. My doctor burned two lesions on my left ovary, but didn’t feel that it was safe to burn a lesion on my left ureter and a lesion on/near my colon/rectum. She said that there was no further surgical treatment needed for those spots she couldn’t get. My concern is that most of my symptoms have been bowel symptoms. I’ve gotten to the point where I have rectal bleeding during my period. If she didn’t remove the spot on my bowel, won’t those symptoms just continue? I love my doctor, but she is by no means a endometriosis specialist and I’ve read that burning the lesions has a greater chance of them returning. The closest specialist to me is Dr. Sinervo in Atlanta. Has anyone dealt with him? Or does anyway know how long I would have to wait for a second surgery? I don’t want to leave those lesions in their for my endometriosis to continue unchecked. I’m 27 and I haven’t had kids yet and I want to. I want to be sure I’m doing everything possible to treat this so that when I decide to have kids one day I have a better chance. Thanks in advance for any help.

  1. Hi there , so sorry to hear what you are dealing with. How frustrating and scary. I know I always am so worried about what is going on with my bowels and endo inside of my body. I hate not being able to see it! If there was endo missed and not removed, it is very likely symptoms will still occur. Dr. Sinervo was the closest to me as well! I have truly heard a lot of great thins about him and success stories. I was set to have surgery with him, but I had to back out due to insurance/cost. But other than that I would have surgery with him in a heart beat. I ended up finding a specialist in FL, who wasn't much further from me than Dr. S. Are you a part of Nancy's Nook - a FB group? You can research these doctors on their and read stories/questions, and also look for other specialist that may be in your area or surrounding areas. I truly hope you are able to find some answers and relief soon. Sending you hugs. Know we are thinking of you and here for you too. -Kimberli (Team Member)
