I need help and advice please

Hiya I'm bex 8m new here but really struggling. I'm 33 years old I had a full abdominal hysterectomy in Oct 2022 iwas struggling with horrific pains and spontaneous bleeding before my operation due to having a rare n severe case of endometriosis my last resort was to have a hysterectomy but the pains have come back worse than ever. Why what could it be I've been advised the endometriosis may have spread caus8ng discomfort in my legs were my uterus used to be and in my back and bowels.

  1. Thanks for sharing your story and apologies that it's taken so long for someone to respond. I'm really sorry to hear that you're still experiencing symptoms after having a hysterectomy. Unfortunately, hysterectomy cannot cure endo; many people experience a recurrence after having a hysterectomy, especially those with advanced disease. Did you happen to keep your ovaries or one ovary? Sometimes that can cause persistent symptoms. Other times the endo spreads and doctors aren't altogether sure why. The scar tissue can also exacerbate issues. I would definitely talk to your doctor about it, and if you aren't feeling comfortable with the last doctor you saw, get a second opinion if that is available to you.

I really sympathize with you; I had four surgeries before my symptoms subsided. Please feel free to reach out with any other questions.

    1. I am sorry that you are struggling. What type of hysterectomy did you have done? I had a complete hysterectomy with the removal of both ovaries, my uterus, and cervix. It did not cure my pain but has helped, compared to what I was dealing with previously. BUT I had to start hormone replacement therapy to help combat some of the side effects of having the type of hysterectomy that I chose. Do you still have your ovaries? If so, you may need some hormal management as well. Best wishes - Amanda (team member)
