Confusing Diagnostics!

Just 2 weeks ago, Doctor A tells me that one of my fallopian tube is blocked and he immediately books me for a laparoscopy surgery in 3 months time. He also asked me to sign an approval letter for him to remove my tube and both tubes if found to be damaged while operating. He also said that I have not enough time left to try to get pregnant (i am 40) and I should consider IVF. This appoinment was 10 days after my first period day.

I was not fully convinced with his findings and was rather uncomfortable with all the rush. He even called the next day to get me in for a cancelled operation just a few days later! I insisted to wait and declined the offer.

I went for a 2nd opinion after 2 weeks and this time, Dr B tells me that she cannot find any growth and my tubes look perfect! This appointment was 20 days after my first period day. She was indeed shocked by my initial diagnosis and was totally against the idea of operation especially when there is no checks in between to see if my condition has changed.

Now I am wondering if anyone else has faced a similar situation where your fallopian tubes were filled with fluid just after your period or perhaps during ovulation time and this state changes? I did see some fluid sacks in the first check but the screen was also quite blur to make out what it was.

As these were 2 completely different diagnosis, one from I guess a private institution while the other one was a state institution but I have no choice but to get a 3rd opinion to really confirm these findings.

  1. firstly, I am proud of you for saying no to doctor A because of not feeling ready just yet with what they were trying to tell you to do. I think it is so important we don't always jump quickly at what doctors tell us they think we need to do, without getting another opinion first. Especially if we don't feel comfortable or confident with it. Secondly, I am also proud of you that you did get that second opinion and that you are also considering a third. I think that sounds like a great idea. I know I have been told my tubes were blocked, but that they were able to clear them out safely during surgery. My most recent surgery they said my tubes still looked good. I am not sure if maybe yours looked different like you said due to the timing of your period. Maybe that could have been a reason. I hope in your case though they are exactly what doctor B said! That they look perfect. It definitely doesn't hurt to try and get another opinion from another doctor. Maybe try to see if they can schedule a scan in between your period. So not before or not right after. And let them know about the scans before and how they were both taken around your period and showed different things. Hoping you can get to the bottom of this and figure out the right form of action and treatment to take. Don't rush your decision, keep getting answers until you feel confident with what they are telling you <3 Here for you warrior. Sending good thoughts. -Kimberli (team member)
