Blood test, cancer markers

I am diagnosed with endometriosis stage 3 since 2018. Recently My OB-GYN send my to lab for blood test since I had abdominal pain.
Cancer markers are high. Can be normal for endometriosis?
CA 125 - 45
CA 19-9 -245

OB-GYN is concerned about them and think that it may be cancer. She referred my to oncologist. I will see him only in September.

Have you had this blood tests and what were your results, if you can share it?

  1. I want to add that I have one ovarian cyst in the left 5 cm and two smaller cysts on the right.

    1. Hi Olga, this must feel very worrisome. CA125 and CA19-9 can be high because of cancer but also by many noncancerous conditions--including endometriosis or even just being on your period (https://www.uptodate.com/contents/image?imageKey=OBGYN%2F81621#!). If you haven't already, you might want to call your gynecologist and ask for some clarification on the meaning, and ask if she feels it's ok for you to wait until next month for your oncology appointment. Please keep in touch about how things are going for you. Sending you my best wishes! -Audrey (endometriosis.net team member)

      1. I will watch my symptoms and visit couple OB-GYNs to be sure if I need to be worried. I do not have symptoms of ovarian cancer such as weight loss or problems with eating. Even my period is regular and only 5 days. I do not have constant pain and did not use any pain medicine daily. I hope it is only blood test that shows endometriosis.

        1. A second opinion can be really helpful. And as you said, paying attention to your symptoms is so important. Take good care of yourself, and please reach out if you have more questions. -Audrey (endometriosis.net team member)
