Wait Times for Laparoscopic Surgery
Hi All..
Just wondering if anyone has a rough idea on surgery waiting times for laparoscopic procedures for endometriosis.. I had my pre-op assessment in July but heard nothing yet? This is my 2nd op and needing both urologist and gynaecologist due to the endometriosis being on my bladder also.. last time my op was quite quick after pre-op but I have a bad feeling I’m going to be waiting ages this time.. Mid-Yorkshire hospitals?
Sounds frustrating to be waiting for an answer! You're right that it can take some time to coordinate schedules between your two specialists. If you haven't already, you could contact the office to make sure they are working on a date for you. I hope you get scheduled soon! It can definitely be frustrating waiting for surgery. I had to wait 7 months for mine in the U.S., which I had earlier this year. But I had to wait that long because I was working with an endo specialist. I've also heard the pandemic has really slowed down non-emergency procedures all over the world. I will say, it was definitely worth the wait to have my surgery with someone who knew what they were doing. Like Dr. Sheridan said, you shouldn't hesitate to reach out to your doctor to find out about the date. Keep us posted! - Keri (endometriosis.net team member)
Thanks for your replies 😊I did give the waiting list office a call but they said they couldn’t tell me anything yet.. which makes me think I’m very far away from a date.. it’s been 7 months since I saw the consultant last.. I’ll have to keep ringing in a few weeks and hope that can give me a rough idea
