Tampons with endometriosis

Does anybody else have issues with tampons? They're uncomfortable and I know I'm putting them in right. Like when I'm wearing them, I can't feel them and that's not necessarily the issue. It's just every time I'm wearing one, I get nauseous and almost feel light headed. 🥲 is there maybe a certain kind I should use? I use light and regular typically by Tampax.

  1. I never had these issues, but I do know that it's possible you're reacting to some of the ingredients. I used organic cotton tampons and didn't have any issues, so you might want to consider switching brands to see if that helps. I'd stay away from dyes or fragrances. It could also be that your body just doesn't like using them? You could also try a menstrual cup. Cloth pads or period underwear are other options. I hope you find another option that works better for you! ~Katrina, Endometriosis.net

    1. I had 4 periods in a row back to back one time and it was so painful by the end to use any tampons plus my skin was rashy & raw from using pads for weeks. Now I find tampons too painful so I turned to reusable pads and underwear (100% cotton). Maybe that can help like Katrina mentioned in her comment? I’m also curious about the cup but am nervous about how painful it might be to insert with my severe pelvic floor dysfunction.

      1. I don’t have the same issues, but I do have trouble with tampons. I’ve been using period panties only (except if I go to the beach) for about 7 years now. I invested in a full set for my whole period, which lasts about 5 days. I have super heavies that hold 5 tampons down to light days for spotting. I highly recommend them! - Keri (endometriosis.net team member)
