Request for Proof of Pain Related to Endometriosis for Social Security Scotland

I am writing to seek your assistance in providing documentation to help substantiate my application to Social Security Scotland, particularly regarding the painful nature of endometriosis.

Despite being diagnosed with endometriosis and experiencing severe pain that impacts my daily life and ability to work, Social Security Scotland has raised doubts about the painfulness of this condition. This lack of understanding about the often debilitating effects of endometriosis has led to additional challenges in my application process, as I must now provide evidence to demonstrate the impact of this condition on my well-being.

If possible, I would be deeply grateful if you could provide a statement or documentation that highlights the typical experiences of pain and other symptoms faced by those with endometriosis. This information would be invaluable in helping me communicate the reality of living with this condition.

Thank you very much for considering my request, and thank you for the ongoing work you do to support those affected by endometriosis.

  1. Hi . I wish we could help you in this way, but we are not medical experts nor are our authors. Our articles would not carry that kind of weight in court. Have you tried contacting a doctor who specializes in endometriosis? Convincing courts that endometriosis can be debilitating can be an uphill battle, even here in the US. Here is a study that might interest you: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38418360/. I hope some people who have successful applied for disability will chime in here with some guidance. Please keep us posted and know that we are here to support you. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Thank you for your response. I can understand the lack of awareness around endometriosis thirty years ago when my journey with it began, but it’s astonishing that we still need to prove its impact on our lives. It feels as though some people live in a bubble, staying uninformed while making decisions that deeply affect us. I've sent emails to Universities, doctors and politicians. I will keep Yous updated

      1. We will be thinking of you and sending lots of good vibes your way. I hope you succeed. - Lori (Team Member)

    2. I’m sorry to hear you’re suffering, I’ve been doing some research on the biomarkers that can help me talk with my doctor on their level, since they’re so used to being “in charge”. I found this study some time ago and I’m using it to aid my path of noninvasive treatments to SSDI and I hope this can bring you some aid as well. It answers how endometriosis affects the central nervous system and how the nerves are affected in regards to pain threshold.
