Hysterectomy at stage 3 and no pain

I'm so glad to have found you! I am wondering if I should get a hysterectomy as recommended by my gynecologist. I read several posts and articles on this Web site and others : I know that each woman is different but getting some feedback would be very helpful.

I'm 52 yo with stage 3 endometriosis. Pain is minimal but I am always exhausted. I'm ambivalent. On the one hand, surgery would take away most of the endometriosis at least for a while instead of it's spreading and I might feel less fatigue. On the other hand, it is a major operation.

If you have been in a similar position unsure about surgery, I would love to read what you have done and how it went. Also, does surgery really help lessen exhaustion? All comments are welcome! Thank you!

  1. Hello Nadia, I haven’t had a hysterectomy, but it is something I’m considering right now. But I am hoping someone will chime in with actual experience of this procedure. In the meantime, I am sending you a huge hug - Jessie (team member)

    1. thank you very much! Will let you know how it goes if I go through with it ...

  2. Hi Nadia, thanks so much for reaching out! It sounds like you have a lot on your mind, rightfully so. I also have not had this procedure done and since you mentioned you read a bunch of articles on our site and others, I wanted to link a facebook post and discussion that we posted a while ago. A bunch of people wrote in talking about their experience with the procedure. Please feel free to read through it and even chime in and ask questions on the thread. I really hope that helps and as Jessie mentioned, please keep us posted on it all. We're here for you Nadia! Here is that link: https://www.facebook.com/EndometriosisDotNet/posts/1109221766188555
