Emergency Contraception before laparoscopy - help!

Hi all.
I'm due to have a diagnostic laparoscopy on 20th March and my partner and I had a "woops" last night (15th) where our contraception failed.
We don't want children yet and I would have thought that normally the plan would be to get emergency contraception as I'm supposed to ovulate today. However, everything on the Internet says that this is risky due to bleeding coagulation risks and risks of clots massively increased. So now I'm stuck! What do I do? I've been waiting for this surgery for years and years and don't want it cancelled, but I also don't want to be pregnant right now!

  1. Hi LD45, goodness, I can't imagine how you must be feeling and how nerve-wracking that must feel. I see that today is your surgery day. I sincerely hope you everything goes well and that you were able to move forward with your surgery. Unfortunately, we aren't medical professionals and can't give medical advice. I think it would be in your best interest to be straight up with your doctor and let them know you that had that "whoopsies" as you said and take their advice on what to do moving forward. Please let us know how everything went today ok? We're here for you and I'll be sending you some good intentions and vibes this morning. 💛 Kayleigh, Endometriosis.net team
