Can you have endo, though a diagnostic lap does not show signs of it ?

Hi I have had excruciating pain over the last several years but had nothing done about it til last year as it is very on and off where as last year it was constant pain everyday so was referred by my gp and I was sent for numerous test, ultrasounds, ct scans to which all came back impeccable, but still having this excruciating pain. Especially when I have or after sex with my partner. With my previous partner 2 years ago not once did we use protection over the course of 5 years and I did not even have a scare.

I have just had a diagnostic laparoscopy to which no avail nothing showed. Now I am just wondering if anyone else has been in this position where they have had a diagnostic lap procedure told they did not have endo but then maybe in the future do have it ?

I ask this as I am at ends to where I can turn to as even several doctors agree I have some if not all symptoms of endometriosis.

  1. Hi , was this laparoscopy done by an endometriosis specialist? I’d say the best course of action is to see if you can talk with one, and provide them with your medical records so they can have an in-depth look at your case.

A laparoscopy tends to be the best way to diagnose the disease, but depending on who performed it, what they see will be limited to their expertise.

I hope you can find some answers soon. – Jessie (team member)

    1. Hi Jessie thank you for your advice, the surgeon was a general gynaecologists who performed the surgery so may be that was why, I have now been referred to an endometriosis specialist and adviced that will maybe have to have another diagnostic laparoscopy as they will want to see for themselves but no idea as to what will happen yet til I have had the referal. Gp surgery was no help at all and did not want to know anything and tried to just refer me on to another gynaecologist when I am still under an investigation with the consultant who did my surgery.
Thank you for your helpful advice again x
