Pain during ovulation/sex?

Hi all! I have been recently diagnosed with endometriosis after suffering an ectopic pregnancy loss. The surgen let me know if was far advance and I had damages to my left tube (was closed off) and my right tube seems to be clogged with endo.. fun!. It has been a terrible ride to be quite honest with you all. I never suffered any type of pain until I was diagnosed a month ago but now I have been suffering pain.

My question is; Have any of you noticed the pain flare up during ovulation? The pain comes and goes but it is normally very present. I have also recently noticed pain when coming to orgasm.. am wondering if I am not alone in this? & if I am not what has helped you?

I cut red meat off and have tried to lower my dairy intake as well as my fried food intake. Dairy has been the hardest but I think it is where it is affecting me most.

Hope to hear from some of you! I am so happy to have found this forum 😀

  1. First of all, let me say I am so sorry to hear you dealt with an ectopic pregnancy. From what I understand that is a scary and painful situation. And then to get the diagnosis of endometriosis on top of that; I can imagine it's a lot to take in. I'm glad you found our community.

Pain can absolutely flare up during ovulation because of the hormone changes. I noticed pain increases at both ovulation and menses each month before my ovaries were removed, and I still seem to have some monthly fluctuations.

And pain during orgasm is definitely a symptom as well, and one I really wish you didn't have to deal with. It's horrible. Pelvic physical therapy could potentially be a resource for you to help with this. It helped me.

I recently stopped red meat again and it does seem to be lessening my symptoms. I'm already off of dairy.

    1. Thank you so much for getting back to me and for your suggestions. Really glad to be here. I will defiantly try Pelvic physical therapy and I have also read acupuncture have also helped a few ladies so I will be looking into this ASAP. The pain has been so bad sometimes it goes down to my legs. I am focusing on my eating because last ovulation/period did not have this pain and since I was still on my recovery from surgery; my eating was very healthy so I need to get back to that. I was only eating grains, chicken, fish and staying away from dairy. It is crazy to me how much your diet can impact the pain .. this is all so new to me . I really appreciate your kind words and answers Katrina 😀

    2. You're so welcome. I have also found that my diet impacts my pain and when I start to try to reintroduce things, it generally doesn't go well. I hope you find a good pelvic PT! Keep us posted. ~Katrina, Endometriosis.net Advocate

  2. so saddened to hear of this 🙁 What a hard journey it has been, but you are so strong dear warrior. Sending you gentle hugs. I just could not imagine. Definitely a lot to take in and like Katrina said, so glad you have found this community.

I am actually ovulating right now, and my flare up is insanely horrible. And the pain. It comes and goes like you said. Mostly when I am ovulating and then when I am actually on my period. So there really aren't too many breaks in between because I feel like I am ALWAYS ovulating and always on my period. So frustrating. And yes, absolutely experience pain with orgasm. It's the worst 🙁 You are certainly not alone with any of this. I haven't done it yet, but I have heard PT is very helpful with the pelvic region. I have found CBD to be comforting for me, a weighted blanket when my body is aching, a heating pad placed on whatever part of me is hurting, my TENS unit, sometimes even just lightly walking helps.

I too have cut out red meat completely and have found that to be helpful. I also have cut out dairy, soy, added sugars, gluten and some other things that I know tend to bother me and cause me more inflammation. The dairy is definitely soooo hard to cut out. But I have found some good alternatives. If you don't have a nut allergy, I love almond milk. Also, coconut milk is great too.

We are happy to have you here and want you to know you can reach out anytime. We are always here for you. Hoping you are able to find some relief from your pains. 1. Thank you so much for your suggestions. Question; what kind of CBD helps you? I have not tried CBD out. Last night I tried a heating pad and it helped me fall asleep because it was soo hard to sleep with the pain.
I started my gluten free and dairy free diet today and Yes! Almond milk is what I will be having and I also tired dairy free cheese and honestly, not bad! I will do whatever to help me in this journey. So glad to have found this community, it has been really frustrating to me to speak to my Doctor about this because she is pretty negative with it all telling me there is no cure and that I just have to deal with the pain and possible inferility but I refuse that especially because the ectopic was my first pregnancy. Feeling so relieved to know what I am going through is not new to many of you.. it sucks but its great to have each other.

I will def update on how I feel with my new Gluten and dairy free life 😀
