How does endo pain feel? Can your period still come monthly?

I have been seeing a specialist for horrible sharp pelvic pain where they test me for UTIs that always come back negative. I have also had cramping feelings that originate from between my leg and hip on my lower abdomen. I was diagnosed with IC but now I am being told it could be Endo.

I get heavy periods and bad cramps but my period comes around the same time each month which is something I thought was unlike Endo? I have also started having light bleeding/spotting in-between my periods which I never used to have but my biggest complaint is the pain that does not seem to be connected to my periods.

  1. Hi there , Thanks for reaching out & for question! Endo is tricky in that symptoms can vary greatly from person to person. Some women experience irregular periods while others are regular. Same for where pain is experienced. Symptoms of IC and endo as you likely already know do tend to mirror each other & typically the "gold standard" to diagnose endo is by getting a Laparoscopy.

    1. Hi , just wanted to reach out and see how you were doing. I deal with everything you mentioned and can so relate. I have both IC and endo, and I never know exactly which one it is causing a flare up and symptoms, but they are both there 🙁 It can be so frustrating and painful at times. I would definitely reach out to an endometriosis specialist for a lap. That is the only real way to diagnose endometriosis. Is the specialist you are seeing now a urologist? If not, I would suggest maybe seeing one of them as well to better diagnose IC. Either way, truly hope you can find some answers and relief.
