Endometriosis without painful sex

I have thought for years I might have endometriosis. I have super heavy, painful periods. I also have IBS and I know there have been possibilities of endometriosis being misdiagnosed as IBS. However, I do not have pain during sex. I have another appointment with a gynecologist tomorrow and I'm wondering if I should continue trying to persue a diagnosis or it I don't actually have endometriosis since I don't have that symptom. It seems like a common symptom and I am just curious if others have been diagnosed with endometriosis and don't have pain during sex.

  1. Thank you for this question! Although I am someone who experiences pain during sex, I would not let your lack of pain during sex deter you from pursuing a diagnosis if many of the other symptoms line up. Heavy, painful periods are not normal and are definitely worth getting checked out. In addition, since you mention having an IBS diagnosis, that is another clue to me that you may be dealing with endo or some other gynecological issue. You've already been to the doctor at this point; how did the appointment go? ~Katrina, Endometriosis.net Advocate
