Endometriosis > swollen Fallopian tube? Plus many other questions.

Hi there. I read some shares and really appreciate all the info, I still have some questions.

A swollen Fallopian tube was found a couple days ago when I went to the ER for excruciating pain during my menstrual cycle. They want to tell me it’s from an STD, but I know I’m clean. I read a few things connecting swollen tubes to endo. Has anyone experienced this?

Back in February I had the same excruciating pain and when they did a sonogram they found cyst in right ovary 6.5cm. They wanted me to do surgery or go on birth control but I didn’t want either. I implemented many natural remedies and reduced it to 4.5cm in two months. I thought the pain I went through 2 days ago was from the cyst. But they brushed over my ovaries like nothing was wrong 4.2cm, is that a normal size? I’m 33. I thought 2cm was normal.

Then they find the swollen tube and I ponder, why didn’t they find a swollen tube in February when I had a sonogram?

It concerns me that the endometriosis is making things worse, and I’m honestly scared. I haven’t been officially diagnosed because I feel surgery is pointless if the pain and endo is just going to come back at some point. There must be a natural way to heal this. Anyone have experience with naturally healing their endo?

Also, another question. Is the only way to find out where the endo is growing is through a laparoscopy? Someone mentioned something in another post about an MRI? I was also recommended to have a CT? Has anyone had any luck finding out where it’s growing or if it actually exists without laproscopy?

This forum seems amazing. Thank you.

  1. Thanks for reaching out to us! I do not have any experience with a swollen fallopian tube, so I can't give you advice on that. But I had recurring endometriomas, which are a kind of ovarian cyst, and although I tried many natural remedies over the years, nothing helped me except excision surgery. Not to say that this would be the case for you, but I have advanced disease and only found relief once I had expert surgery. I would recommend doing either an MRI or a CT. Sometimes the imaging can show things that need to be addressed...for instance, when I did an MRI they were able to see that my ovaries were stuck behind my uterus and also stuck together, and I had an adhesion from my uterus to my rectum.

I know the idea of surgery is scary; I was definitely scared of it. But I don't think that surgery is pointless, even after having four surgeries, because I know for certain I wouldn't be in the position I'm in now had I not had surgery. Before my last surgery I couldn't walk down the road to my mailbox; now I'm hiking for miles. I had nerve involvement and it would have never have been changed without surgery.

I hope you're able to find some answers. ~Katrina, Endometriosis.net Advocate
