COVID infection and worse endo symptoms

Hi—I’m triple vaxxed and got a covid breakthrough case and my endometriosis symptoms went off the charts in terms of pain and duration of pain while I’ve been sick with COVID. Is this anything anyone else has experienced? It’s been non-stop pain for 4 days—normally just brutal pain at night.

  1. Hi . First, let me say that I hope you recover soon! Second, I hope some other warriors will chime in on their experience because this is a really interesting question.

While I haven't been sick with COVID, I can say that ALL of my endo symptoms flared terribly after my 2nd shot (but not the booster). Vaccines cause a short-term inflammatory response, which I'm guessing is what triggered my symptoms. My endo-related pain was intense and lasted about 5 or 6 days. In terms of COVID, it's well known that it causes a pretty intense inflammatory response. My best guess is that can trigger inflammation related to endo as your body tries to fight it off. And this goes probably goes without saying, but check in with your doctor if your symptoms get worse! - Keri (team member)

    1. So sorry to hear you got COVID and that it is causing an increase in pain in addition to the other symptoms it typically presents! Although I have not gotten COVID, I have heard from other people in the disability and chronic illness community that the symptoms of their chronic conditions worsened during their bout with COVID, so I think this is somewhat typical. I hope you find some ease soon! ~Katrina, Endometriosis.net Advocate

        1. thank you for checking on me! Heading to an MRI this week to get a better idea of what is going on!

          1. Glad to hear you're able to get an MRI to get more answers, but at the same time I'm sad to hear you're still dealing with symptoms. I hope the MRI goes well. Do keep us posted! ~Katrina, Endometriosis.net Advocate
