C section endometriosis

Hi there i just got a scan to confirm endometriosis and on a waiting list to see a gynaecologist. Can a c section cause this or is it there for a long time and the c section triggered it. I had section 4 years ago and have not felt right since, pain getting worse over time.

  1. Hi . Welcome to the community! I'm glad you found us. The cause of endometriosis is unknown, but some researchers believe endometrial cells can be transplanted to the surgical site or surgical incision during c-sections. Theoretically, the endometrial tissue would be concentrated at that surgical site. Here is an article about the potential causes of entrometriosis that discusses it: https://endometriosis.net/cause. I wish you didn't have to contend with this, but I hope the diagnosis brings you treatment and relief. Are you seeing a GYN who specializes in endometriosis? Are you in a great deal of pain or discomfort (or both) While you wait for your appointment, you might want to read through this article about treatments: https://endometriosis.net/treatment. The more you know, the better equipped you will be to make decisions about your treatment when the time comes. If the pain becomes unbearable at any point while you wait, please go to the ER or call your primary care doctor. You shouldn't have to suffer while you wait. I hope this helps. Best wishes. - Lori (Team Member)

    1. Thank you so much for the help. I am on a waiting list to see a gynaecologist in the hospital. I have pain most days that increase with my cycle. I manage it with painkillers and improve my diet. I will add what you have shared to the list. Thanks for the info much appreciated
