Anyone else

I am 51 years old & have been dealing with endometriosis longer than I care to admit. I was diagnosed at the age of 28 when I could not get pregnant. I had a laparoscopy that helped symptoms for quite some time. Since October 2022 I’ve been dealing with ovarian cysts, fibroids & endometriosis. The pain would come & go depending on the time in my cycle. Now I’m in pain everyday that has me taking pain medication & sitting/laying down. I saw my gynecologist this past Monday again to go over the most recent ultrasound results & discuss options. I have not had a monthly cycle since December 2022, so 3 months. The ultrasound showed the cysts, fibroids & something new-my endometrial lining is 20mm thick which could be caused by abnormal cells, cancer or too much estrogen & not shedding my lining in 3 months. On Monday I had a biopsy & am waiting for results. My doctor recommends a complete hysterectomy which I feel will be beneficial but scared of any type of surgery. She also recommends I see a specialist who I have an appointment with on March 30th. My doctor said that now I am older & my body not only has endometriosis it is going through peri menopause recovery from surgery is going to take awhile. I’m scared of what the biopsy results may show. Anyone else experience this?

  1. I am so sorry you have been dealing with endometriosis for so long dear warrior. Our story sounds similar.
I too have fibroids and cysts on top of endometriosis as well. I truly hate you are in daily pain now 🙁 I am glad you did
get to your doctors and they have done some testing to see what is going on. I know it's scary waiting for the results. It really
sounds like they are taking action on next steps, which is a good thing. Especially having a specialist lined up!

I don't have personal experience with needing biopsies done but do know, we are sending you all the good thoughts as you wait for the
results. Like I said, it really sounds like you have a good team who will do whatever they need to do to get you feeling better and to take action right away..
I am 34 and in the process of thinking about a hysterectomy though. I will be having my 5th surgery at the end of this month- all though it is
more so related to hernias this round not endometriosis. Surgeries are definitely scary to think about. But my thought is, if there is
even a chance it will help me feel better, it is worth it, no matter how scary. But you have to follow your gut and do what you feel is best.
If you feel a hysterectomy will be beneficial for you, then maybe it is time. Recovery may be a little longer but you know what, you are so
strong. You have made it this far with all that pain, you can absolutely fight through recovery from surgery. I think once you have your apt
with your specialist, you will have a better and more clear idea of it all.

    1. Thank you for your kind words & support, Kimberli. I can’t express how much I appreciate it. I feel at times that it’s a lonely disease.

    2. Hi Hewsmom. At 53, I had a partial hysterectomy due to EIN (precancerous cell changes in uterus), and the surgery went fine, and I recovered quickly, and I'm so glad I did it. They say they took a look around while in there, and reported that things looked fine. I don't know why they didn't report on adhesions/scar tissue. I still have middling pain, which all my practitioners say is "probably just adhesions/scar tissue." Probably. Ha! Anyway, I was very happy to be rid of my uterus, tubes and cervix, because I've had precancerous cells on two of them. Now I don't have to worry anymore. So I'm sending you my positive vibes right now, 19:21 EST, 4/15/23. (Hope you felt them! : ))

      1. Thank you
