  1. "Hi, I was diagnosed with endometriosis in my early 20's. I have two children and I am currently entering menopause(I have not had a period for 3 years). I am having severe pain on my left side, directly in the area of my left ovary. I have had an ultrasound, CT-Scan and I am scheduled for a MRI to try and find out what is causing the pain. I believe that my left ovary is the culprit since it is adhesed to the back of my uterus due to the endometriosis. Is there any information on Endometriosis after childbearing years? Thank you for your time and consideration."

    1. Hello @cdhas-endo, thanks for reaching out. For some patients, the changes that come with menopause can lead to relief from endometriosis symptoms, however, for others, this is not how it works. Our body will continue to make low levels of estrogen and other hormones that will play a part in symptoms. Also, if your adhesions have been there for a while, and if they are sticking organs to other tissues, they may continue to cause trouble until they are removed, no matter your age. I am attaching a link with information on the how endometriosis can behave at different life stages.

If those adhesions are deep, it’s unlikely you will see them through any imaging tests, and a laparoscopy may be the only way to find out for sure.

I hope this helps. I wish I had more information on the subject, but I am still to get to the menopause, which makes my personal own experience quite insufficient at this point 😉

I hope you can find some relief soon. Please reach out to us whenever you need – Jessie (team member)
