Hi TeapotMoon! I'm a yoga instructor and absolutely love the support that yoga has offered me in managing my health, so I'm excited to hear that you're interested in it too. The good news is that you can definitely start on a budget. You can pick up a mat at Five and Below, TJMaxx, Marshalls, Target, any of those kind of stores for $10 or less. You don't need a fancy mat. You will likely want some guidance on what do once you're on your mat! Some yoga studios offer your first class free or new student discounts so you could scout out your local studio offers. There are also plenty of ways in which you can start in your home. Glo.com is a website that I describe as the netflix of yoga classes. There are some AMAZING instructors on there and you can sort classes based on length of time, level of intensity (gentle to advance) or even the benefit that you're looking to get out of the practice (back relief, help sleeping, energizing, destressing...). I think it's about $18/mth for unlimited classes and there's a free trial so you could even just use the trial period if you wanted. Last but not least, I posted a few videos on YouTube of yoga that you're welcome to check out - one is yoga in a chair that I did during MS Awareness month (in addition to endometriosis I also have MS and migraines so I talk a lot about chronic illness). Here's the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCl7g0sfR_4#action=share. I talk a bit in the beginning and the yoga practice starts at the 6 minute marker. I hope this is helpful and wish you all the best in your yoga practice! 😀
