The right contraceptive for endo

Can I ask what people are happy on taking any type of contraception to help with endo as I cant find the right pill. I really suffer with my lower back knees thighs very painful. I have a arthritic type of sensation pain in both knees.

  1. Hey , while I was reluctant to go towards anything hormonal, in the end I agreed and it made my life so much easier. I was on the pill-form of the provera shot, which I must add, is NOT considered a form of contraception, but a hormonal treatment for endometriosis. I came off it only two months ago, and I think I will probably miss it.

And I also have similar issues with my knees. My physio recommended I started doing squats daily, and it has helped a lot with the pain, and that “arthritic” sensation. Have you seen a PT about this sort of discomfort? - Jessie (team member)

    1. No not seen a PT yet. I didn’t know there was a pill form of the depo. Why did you come if it ? if u don’t mind me asking. Thankyou for your reply and I will give some gentle squats ago I’ve also invested in a stationary exercise bike see if that helps. Thanku x

      1. hiya! I came off it because I’d been on it for over two years, and I was experiencing some symptoms that were making me a tad anxious, like migraines and other things, so I decided to give myself a break. I also don’t think these meds were designed for me to be on them forever, as much as they made my life so much easier. I hope this helps? A stationary bike is a great idea, I did that for a while (gently though) and it helped too. - Jessie (team member)

    2. since march 2020 i have chronic endo pain.
Since July 2020 i started hormonal medications. The mini pill/cerazette/ delamonie 75mcg has been the only one so far helping with symptoms without creating too much side effects.
My kneepain and other joint-/muscle aches seem to reduce (and increase) together with my period-like pains.
Hope you can find something that works for you.
      Xx

      1. Adding to that, first specialists advice i got is a progesterone based medication, bc estrogen makes endometrial tissue grow.
Delamonie/desogestrel/cerazette are different names for the same medication.
I suffer much less side effects than with heavier (ivf medication) progesterone.

Physical Therapy helped me a lot regain some muscle strength and unburden my joints.
Since i have a tens device (electronic neuro stimulation) i need a lot less painkillers.
Next week i go for surgery and hopefully need a lot less of those things.
But the hormones and physical therapy are the last things to keep.
I hope you have a good specialist within reach to guide you through finding what works for you.
Since i am treated in a specialized endometriosis clinic i have much more peace of mind. I wish the same to everyone going through this journey.

        Take care xxx
