Hi , this is a great question. I haven't had an HSG, but had a very similar procedure with liquid injected into the uterus, and I've performed that procedure many times. I'd say that the level of discomfort really varies from person to person. I mean, just having a speculum in is never fun. In my own experience, it was a pretty severe but very brief cramp. Your doctor may suggest taking some anti-inflammatory medication before the procedure to decrease the cramping--you could check in about that if they haven't said anything.
