how true is it that pregnancy reduces the chances of endo?

I was reading in the other thread of those offering unsolicited advice to people with endo, and one of those suggestions was that woman should get pregnant.

Ive heard that Pregnancy reduces the chances, but i dont see how that is actully possible? yes for a extended period of time during pregnancy your body will produce more Progesterone slowing the endometrium development, also you wont cycle for 9months of endometrium build build up on the uterine wall, but ultimately you wont be pregnant continually for your life till menopause, and even then you have set amount of eggs, so if you have 4 children you might delay menopause for 3 years... but those extra eggs will still cycle.

Im not convinced overall that pregnancy has anything to do with Endo, except that you might get a small break from it during pregnancy and having extra progesterone.

question is, is it true that pregnancy will reduce or eliminate endo?

what is the actual evidence for this?

  1. This is wack science, I had a doctor tell me this, I believe its all anecdotal, and like what is the sense of that? Have a baby???? Thats the most expensive solution I've ever heard, and I've actually heard it from a doctor. Doctors dont really care about painful periods, good luck to you. I hear you have to be extremely persistent to be taken seriously, I have had endo (not officially diagnosed because you need to have surgery to even diagnosis it) since 2005 and have seen probably 6 different primaries and two gynos, and they all just say best we can do is put you on hormonal birth control so you skip your periods.

    1. I guess pregnancy can maybe help some people’s symptoms, but I’ve also heard of endo symptoms getting significantly worse after giving birth and/or being flared up during pregnancy. I think each person is so different in their endo journey and what triggers/helps their symptoms.
