Diagnosed with Endometriosis

I was diagnosed with endometriosis at age 17 and am now 18. It has been difficult to keep up with my school work because of the pain and I do not want to do hormone therapy. I do not have any new ideas to combat this pain!

Hello <inline-mention user-id="2059302" username="katiegs2001"/> , thanks for reaching out. There are things you can do to manage your symptoms, that don’t involve hormonal treatments. For instance, dietary changes have proven beneficial for so many endometriosis patients. I have taken it for pain relief, and while it doesn’t eliminate it completely, it does take the edge off quite well. Another pain relief tool I reach for constantly is my TENS machine. This little gadget gives small electrical pulses and is very effective at reducing, even eliminating, pain. You can find TENS machines online very easily, and most of them are inexpensive. While it is encouraging that you have a diagnosis for your pain, it is never easy to be told that you have endometriosis. Jessie has already provided you with some helpful links on how to combat the pain through diet and natural therapies. Hopefully these will help you too. Do keep an eye on your symptoms, so you can have a good conversation with your doctor if they get worse. Surgery might be an option (laparoscopy), although I am not sure whether your doctor may find you too young for that. I would also recommend connecting with others who suffer from endometriosis, like you have done with this story. Talking to other women who are going through the same is very comforting.
