Ovary pain but no cyst?

Hi everyone I had endo removed about five years ago and haven’t been on contraception since. All has been good. But for the past year when I am on my heaviest day I get sharp shooting pains in my right ovary. Two ultrasounds show nothing. I get pain in this ovary during ovulation too. Could the endo be back even though the ultrasound shows no abnormalities?

  1. Hello you are describing exactly what I am having to deal with at the moment. If the ultrasound shows nothing, it could be endometriosis adhesions, or even scar tissue from past surgeries. The issue with ultrasounds and many imaging tests is that they fail to show adhesions, since these can be located at a deeper level, hidden behind other organs. I spoke to my doctor about this and he recommended a laparoscopy to properly diagnose and deal with the source of my pain. I hope this helps. – Jessie (team member)

    1. Hi , I just wanted to chime in as well. I have that same exact pain in my right ovary now, since surgery. Like Jessie said, if ultrasound does not show anything, it very well could be adhesions or scar tissue. Which I think is what I am dealing with. Because it almost has this different pain than my cysts. Also like Jessie had said, unfortunately, imaging testing really does not show all that much. Which is why I feel like so many of us have to deal with so many surgeries. I know you have posted this a few months ago, so I really just wanted to check in and see how you were doing! -Kimberli (team member)
