Yoga Modifications During Your Period

Yoga is a beautiful practice to balance hormones, manage stress, and alleviate tension in the body. A regular practice will deliver the best results. So, what happens when you have your period? There are some key modifications you can make that will support your practice and your menstrual cycle.

The most important thing to note is to avoid inversions – going upside down. This is suggested to encourage the flood of energy and blood in the opposite direction. Inversions include headstand, handstand, and crow pose, just to name a few. A “safer” alternative would be legs up the wall or even a simple child’s pose.
